Hi, my name's Dave, I have bought quite a few heli's, etc from Heliproz, and I have a tech question I need answered.
I received the Redline 50 engine & parts for a new NX 50 I'm getting ready to build, and while looking over the engine this am I noticed the front engine bearing/seal seemed to be sticking out quite a bit, and the output shaft had some play to it.
Upon closer inspection, the bearing seemed to be a loose fit...so loose, that in fact while holding the motor & giving it a few shakes...it came all the way out...should this not be pressed it? Also, the back & forth play seemed to be too much.
I know you can use bearing lock, etc., however this just seems to be too much of a loose fit...
Brian, from Heliproz says to go fly it...what do you guys think? Thanks for any advice.

 Hello Vetteman,

We wouldn't suggest running the engine that way.

If the bearing is loose then something is wrong. If the engine is used, I imagine it was overheated then the bearing was able to spin which in turn makes the hole larger. That will allow the crank to contact the case and cause more problems like lack of power, over heating and metal debris that will cause premature wear and failure of the engine.

If the engine is new, you should send it in along with a copy of the proof of purchase from an authorized dealer for repair.

Wookie77,

Thank you for your unbiased opinion. I thought about trying bearing lock, but it is a brand new engine, and I think as a Saleman working for one of the largest Heli Sales Site, I was given the wrong info from them. It's possible he didn't understand the question, so I'm going to forget about their answer. I am a Commercial A/C Mechanic, w/ 22 years on the job, and deal with motors, pumps and seals all the time.I do believe it would cause the machined area to enlarge and cause major damage to the engine. I will contact Thunder Tiger to try and get this engine replaced...another setback...shsssh. Thanks for your time & thoughts, I appriciate it!
